Craig: 1st in The Tribe of 6 

I conclude my salute to The Tribe with a dedication to my firstborn, Craig, who transitioned more than a decade ago from complications from a bone marrow transplant after he was diagnosed with leukemia. 

Lovingly called Craig by some of us and Delton by the rest of us, Craig was the embodiment of hip hop culture - from the dances he practiced for hours each day to his style of dress that always included a baseball cap and oversized pants. 

One piece of clothing he loved and wore most was a particular hoodie. In the final years of his life earth side, Craig wore his light bronze hooded jacket everywhere. He slept with it on. He wore it around our home. And it acted as an extra layer of protection from the New York City cold underneath his winter coat. 

For the Messenger music video, The Tribe was charged with including some aspect of their departed brother in the video. Nylah decided she would do this by using Craig’s hoodie in her choreography of everyone’s dance solo.
